with any questions you might have, we'll be glad to help. What does it mean that Cereniti’s transmitters are “FCC-licensed?”As you probably know, some radio frequencies are unlicensed, like the ones used by cordless phones, while other devices use licensed frequencies which are essentially dedicated frequencies that are allocated by the FCC (or by an FCC coordinator) for a specific (geographic) site. Cereniti transmitters use only FCC-licensed frequencies which are lower down on the spectrum. This means that our transmitters have better reach, and experience less interference than those using higher, unlicensed frequencies. Does Cereniti offer equipment for indoor and outdoor use?Yes. We have developed different transmitters for indoor and outdoor installation. Our outdoors transmitters are supplied with immersion protection that meets the IP68 standard . That means that they will not only work outside, they will not fail even if submerged in up to 3 feet of water. What’s the difference between a “concentrator” and a “gateway?”A concentrator is essentially an industrial PC that hooks up to a receiver and that collects data from the transmitters in a deployment (property). The concentrator can then be accessed by a remote computer and the data downloaded. This means that the data that you have are only as up-to-date as your last download. By comparison, a gateway receives the data from the transmitters and then uses standard communication protocols to forward these data to a server or PC off-site. The gateway uses either an existing WiFi connection, a local area network, or a digital cellular connection ( GPRS) to forward the data from the property either to your own server or to a hosted service that Cereniti maintains. Gateways have a number of advantages over concentrators:
